A native of Georgia, and the son of a Southern Baptist Pastor, Jared comes to us with excellent credentials and experience. He received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 1998 from Georgia Southern University and his Master of Music in Choral Conducting Degree in 2006 from Western Michigan University. In addition, he did some post graduate work at Westminster Choir College in 1998 and 1999.
From 1996 to 2007, Jared served as a teaching assistant and accompanist in Choral Music at Hastings High School in Hastings, Michigan. From 2002 till 2007, he was the Director of Music Ministries at the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Michigan. Previously, he served as a music teacher and music director in schools and churches in Georgia and New Jersey. Of the thirty-five persons from all over the United States who applied for our HUMC position, Jared stood out as having the faith-experience, professional skills, and personality best suited for our congregation. He is acquainted with our congregation’s vision for our music ministry and we are enthusiastic about Jared helping us realize that vision.
