Church Building
Compressor in Doe Hall HVAC unit replaced. Warranty covered the cost ($3,000) of the new compressor so we just had to pay $3,000 for labor, crane rental etc.
Pending maintenance items:  Some lights/ballasts/capacitors still need to be replaced in gym; cracks in cinderblock wall in gym; ballasts/capacitors in parking lot lights still need to be replaced, sand/paint damaged wall behind door in kitchen, scrape and repaint yellow fire lane in spring/summer (possible volunteer opportunity); preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment scheduled to be completed in next couple of weeks; asphalt work should be anticipated this summer on area in front where significant settling is occurring; scrape/skim/paint activity room ceiling and replace ceiling tiles

Communication
Trustees has begun the process of meeting with other church ministry representatives to look for opportunities to improved coordination.  Hosted Finance and Soul Patrol this month.  In coordination with Finance, Trustees will be involved in executing the refinance of the mortgage.  In coordination with Soul Patrol, Trustees will be looking to make the building more inviting through enhanced signage and will be further promoting the availability of space to bring more of the community into the church.  We will be meeting with the representative from Link next month and will be reaching out to SPR on the prospect of creating a role to market and coordinate the use of the building to outside groups.  One such example is the weekday use of the facility by Herndon Community Center for classes.
Developing a page on the church web site to improve communication with congregation.

Other
Children’s Place lease is signed and tenant was current through January.  Inviting proprietor to a Trustee meeting to strengthen communication and relationship.
Creating list of volunteer project opportunities.  These will be used for: 1) individuals required to perform community service hours, Eagle Scout projects, and work days.
Will conduct annual review and update of the Building Use Policy over the next two months.  Will add policy for HHS student parking.
Making an effort to overhaul our administration/filing of official documents.
Pursuing the registration of the current Trustee slate with Fairfax County (this is required for execution of the new note and deed of trust associated with the refinance).

 We Need Your Help!
 Building Use  Frequently Asked Questions
The church spends over $40,000 a year on electricity – with the greatest demands in the winter and summer.  We need your help in being prudent by turning off lights in rooms not being used and not propping open doors.

We sponsor several word days per year.  If you are interested in volunteering please let us know.
Attached is the building use policy, which governs use of the facility by church and outside groups.  The fee schedule is also included.
